Founded in 1912 by Juliette Gordon Low, Girl Scout membership has grown from eighteen members in Savannah, Georgia, to 3.4 million members throughout the United States, including U.S. territories, and in more than 90 countries through USA Girl Scouts Overseas.
Girl Scouts is the world's preeminent organization dedicated solely to girls. In an accepting and nurturing environment, girls build character and skills for success in the real world. Led by committed parent volunteers, girls discover fun and friendship, as they develop qualities like leadership, strong values, and conviction about their own potential and self-worth that will serve them all their lives. They participate in a myriad of enriching experiences, such as extraordinary field trips, community service projects, cultural exchanges, and environmental stewardships.
Here at Saint Paul, girls as young as five may join Girl Scouts. Our Girl Scout levels are Daisies (K-1 grade), Brownies (2-3 grade), Juniors (4-5 grade) and Cadettes (6-8 grade). At each level, there are plenty of opportunities for girls to be part of many activities, celebrations and work as a team to earn different badges and patches.
Saint Paul Girl Scouts also have an opportunity to earn several religious awards as they grow in their Catholic Faith. These awards were developed and are administered through the Catholic Diocese of Dallas, as well as other recognition programs through the National Catholic Committee for Girl Scouts and Camp Fire through the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry (NFCYM). These programs are designed to support and complement the catechetical efforts of our Catholic parishes and schools.
Any Saint Paul girls interested in joining Girl Scouts or parents interested in helping with a Troop should contact the school office.
